Romantic moment as world's OLDEST newlyweds, at 103 and 91, marry in Eastbourne

Centenarian George Kirby emerged from the ceremony with a huge grin on his face as his sprightly new bride, Doreen Luckie, pushed him in his wheelchair.

The wedding took place on his 103rd birthday in front of 50 family and friends, as well as a representative from Guinness World Records.

Delighted George said outside the venue at the Langham Hotel in Eastbourne, East Sussex: “It’s about time, really.

“Doreen keeps me young and I can definitely say we’re going to spend the rest of our lives together.”

His bride also had a beaming smile, as she confessed: “I was a bit giddy.

“It was such a lovely day and great to see everyone.”

The couple met in 1988 through an organisation to find friends for mature people and soon hit it off.

George, then 76, had just got divorced while Doreen, who lived in Staplehurst, Kent, had become a widow three years earlier following 36 years of marriage.

Doreen said: “He used to come to my house. We got on straight away. He liked the roses in my front garden, he was a real smooth talker.”
